Dr Georg Burlein
FRCS. Senior partner qualified in West Berlin in 1987 and joined the practice in 1997, after previously working as an orthopaedic surgeon.

Dr Paul Burgess
MB BS DCH MRCGP. Qualified in London in 1984 and joined the practice in February 1998 having previously worked in London as a GP.

Dr Bozena Gorecka
L Med MRCGP. Qualified in Warsaw in 1986 and after working as a Radiologist abroad, trained as a GP in the UK, joined the practice as a Registrar in 2003 and then as a partner in 2005.

BSc PhD MB CLB MRCGP. Qualified from Dundee in 1997, worked previously in the Royal Navy. Joined the practice in September 2009 as a partner.

MB BS MRCGP. Qualified in London in 1999 and joined the Practice in 2005 after working in obstetrics and gynaecology.

Nurses

Our team of four Practice Nurses are available by appointment. Their numerous tasks include:

Child and adult immunisations
Foreign travel immunisations and advice
Cervical smears
Dressings and removal of stitches
Ear syringing
Specialised clinincs to monitor chronic conditions
New patient checks
Smoking cessation advice and support
Health education and dietary advice
Spirometry
Open access and triage clinic

Sister Rosie Wakelin
Qualified in March 1987 as a RGN and March 1990 as a Registered Midwife and joined the Practice in February 2003 as a Practice Nurse. Rosie has a particular interest in Diabetes and child immunisation.

Sister Linda Tarr
Qualified at the University Hospital of Wales in 1981. Joined us as a Practice Nurse in 2004. Special interests in smoking cessation, female and sexual health including contraception.

Sister Wendy Mannion

RGN RM BSc (open)

Wendy qualified as a nurse 1986 at Middlesex Hospital, London and as a midwife 1988 at Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton. She has been a Practice Nurse since 1989 and has undertaken extra courses in contraception, diabetes, coronary heart disease, COPD and asthma. She has a special interest in respiratory disease, contraception and women’s health and travel. Wendy completed an Open University degree in 2008.

Healthcare Assistants

Our health care support worker provides a range of services in support of both the doctors and practice nurses. These include:

• Spirometry
• New patient checks
• Smoking cessation advice and support
• ECGs
• Blood pressure measurement

Mrs Karen Young (f)
Karen Young has been with the Practice since 2006 and is our HCA. Her special interests are smoking cessation, weight management and new patient medicals.

Practice Management

Mrs Suzanne Ayles
Practice Manager
The Practice Manager is responsible for the administration of the practice and would be happy to have your views and suggestions about the services offered by the practice.

Mrs Jan Peach
Office Manager.
Jan and the Medical Secretaries deal with referral letters and medical reports and all other administrative tasks.

Mrs Ruth Kinnaird

IT Manager.

Responsible for IT and Administration for the Practice, ensuring confidentiality is maintained by all staff at all times

Reception

Mrs Sarah Dalgleish (f)
Reception Lead Sarah and her team of Receptionists will assist you in making emergency and routine appointments to see your Doctor, undertake repeat prescriptions, co-ordinating home visits answer numerous and varied questions and offer help and assistance at all times. Their job is demanding so please be patient. It is a legal requirement that confidentiality of patients’ records is maintained at the highest level by all staff at all times.

Community Midwives

Our midwife is based at Blake Ward, Gosport War Memorial Hospital, Telephone 023 9252 3651. The Blake Team can be contacted on this number.

Community Nurses

Our district nurses work as a team within the Gosport area and so may cover for each other at times of illness, holiday and study leave. The district nurses provide care for patients at home with acute, chronic, serious and terminal illness and for those who need post-operative care. They can advise on incontinence and home nursing aids. If you need home nursing care, please ask your doctor.

Health Visitors

Our health visitors help with childhood problems from birth through to the age of five and perform weekly well baby clinics. The health visitors can be contacted on 023 9250 4991.

Every week a large number of patients fail to attend booked appointments. Please let us know as soon as possible if you can’t keep your appointment then we can give it to someone else!
